A little something special for you…

I have something amazing to tell you!  I discovered the most wonderful blog last week, and you have to check it out.  I was in DC for a show, and met up with a friend who I haven’t seen since high school.  She’s been on adventures all over the world and she works for the EPA, protecting us all from toxins and emissions.  While doing all of her ’round-the-world traveling, she documents and catalogs all the showers she uses.

Showers!

She pointed out that we just need to find a sink person, and we’re set.

Melissa’s blog makes me laugh; her observations are blunt and unapologetic, and her shower criteria are strict and relate-able.  If you use indoor plumbing, there will be a feature or quality standard that you will agree is important to a good shower experience.  She has a side bar where she details the mother of all showers (which fortunately for her is in her apartment) and the shower by which all others shall be judged.  Her tone is humorous; in a recent post, she writes, “The shower wall was too dark. I didn’t trust it.”  She takes those private moments and thoughts that we all think are unique to us, and puts them out there for us all to nod and smile at.  You know what, no one likes the shower curtain to blow into the shower and touch their clean skin…and neither does she!

Please enjoy, and leave comments for both of us.  We both also welcome submissions…so send us your bathrooms, people!  Like Melissa says, they don’t have to be remarkable; any toilet and shower has something worth mentioning.

About amyontheotherside

I've always been attentive to the public restrooms I've used...the good, the bad and the ugly! They all have their uniqueness and charms. I explore these on my blog, "From in the Can". In the rest of my life (outside of the bathroom) I have just moved from NYC to Virginia and am chronicling the experience in the "Experiment in a New Life" blog.
