Ocean Eddie’s in Virginia Beach!

I went to Virginia Beach with my oldest and dearest friend and she took me to the beachside dive bar, Ocean Eddie’s.  What a treat!  You could sit out on the wooden deck over the ocean and smell the fishy, salty air blowing onto the beach.  Cold bottled beer, sandy toes, moon over the water…perfect ocean city evening.

The bathroom was a dive too, and smelled fishier and saltier than the sea.  It fit the scene perfectly; gritty, sandy floor, cheap bright boardwalk character.  From the palm tree mural outside the door to the chintzy pictures over the sink (no mirror?), this bathroom was the perfect restroom for the sandy, sunburned and pleasantly tipsy beach-goers.  Icky?  Sure, a little…but it wouldn’t be a boardwalk bar bathroom and be any other way.

About amyontheotherside

I've always been attentive to the public restrooms I've used...the good, the bad and the ugly! They all have their uniqueness and charms. I explore these on my blog, "From in the Can". In the rest of my life (outside of the bathroom) I have just moved from NYC to Virginia and am chronicling the experience in the "Experiment in a New Life" blog.
