The Sochi Bathroom Games

Well, if there is one thing that Sochi has locked up, it’s interesting bathroom adventures.  From Doubles Toilets to Escape from Your Restroom, there are lots of fun opportunities in what is usually an under-reported aspect of our lives.

This oft-retweeted picture shows the aftermath of Johnny Quinn’s triumphant escape from his hotel bathroom.  Good thing for him the doors don’t look too sturdy!  And I suppose it helps that he has the strength of a world-class athlete.  Always bring your phone and check in with your roomies, Olympians!

These unidentified mega-skiers demonstrate team- and trust-building activities.  There have been a few pictures floating around the internet of double-toilet bathrooms in Sochi.  Is this customary in Russia, or is it the result of rushing through installing the fixtures and skipping the stall walls in order to get ‘er done?

This is for the Olympic solo-acts, I suppose…helping people with performance anxiety by putting them through the most intimate kind of sharing?

Obviously, the plumbing isn’t as sophisticated as that which we take for granted around here.  There would definitely be an odor issues with this.

And since we’re talking about bathroom protocol and rules…Image

I…It’s… Where do you begin?  If this is real, then there’s actually some pretty good advice in here.

I hope everyone is enjoying the feats of athleticism and the excitement of competition of the Games.  Who would have thought we’d get this little bonus of observing the bathroom situation over there!

About amyontheotherside

I've always been attentive to the public restrooms I've used...the good, the bad and the ugly! They all have their uniqueness and charms. I explore these on my blog, "From in the Can". In the rest of my life (outside of the bathroom) I have just moved from NYC to Virginia and am chronicling the experience in the "Experiment in a New Life" blog.
